Suspected gang members express displeasure over disruption of candle light procession for colleagues in Ikotun

Police officers raided a candle light procession held in Agbaranje, Ikotun, by some suspected criminals in honor of their members who were killed via jungle justice in the area and this angered the suspected criminals.

Police operatives from Ikotun Division raided the area on Tuesday evening and dispersed the group that had planned a candle light procession to honour the deceased who were unjustly killed over suspicion that they were ‘One Million Boys’, PM Express reports.

Some of the suspects who organized the procession in honor of their slain members were arrested while many escaped and were said to be at large.

The publication adds that some of the members, mainly the youths in the area, who are suspected members of a gang, have expressed their anger at having police disrupt the event, thereby preventing them from saying a proper farewell to their members who were unjustly killed. They described it as abuse of their right for lawful assembly as enshrined in the Constitution.

The police got information about the gathering to honor the deceased after residents expressed concerns when information spread that the gang, erroneously tagged 'One Million Boys’, will be having a candle light procession to honour their deceased members, who also reside in the area.

Many residents temporarily relocated elsewhere over the fear of the likely chaotic outcome of the candle light procession which they feared that might turn violent and bloody, PM Express adds.

The CDAs in the area contacted the Police to provide security and stop the group from their planned gathering as it might end up in violence and destruction.

Hence, the Police mobilized officers, went there and disrupted the gathering and the event ended abruptly while some arrests were said to have been made.

The deceased were killed by some residents and vigilante in the area who suspected that they were ‘One Million Boys’. They were beheaded and thrown into a nearby canal before it was later discovered that they were residents including a brother to the Oba of Ikotun.

This attracted the attention of the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hakeem Odumosu, who visited the area and some people were arrested and transferred to the SCIID, Panti Yaba, for murder.

It has not been confirmed by the Police if the deceased were actually part of the ‘One Million Boys’ as some residents claimed as investigation was said to be ongoing on the matter.

Nigerian man faces jail sentence after spitting into policewoman's eye in England

A Nigerian man is facing a "significant" prison sentence after he spat blood in a police officer's eye.

Temisan Oritsejafor, 41, attacked PC Napier who was arresting him after he assaulted his neighbour.

Police were called to his flat in Wyken, Coventry, on April 18 after he became abusive towards neighbour Alison Osborne.

During the incident, Oritsejafor suffered a bloody nose and while he was being arrested he spat in PC Napier's face.

A court heard Oritsejafor was on bail at the time for a previous assault on a police officer.

Oritsejafor admitted common assault and two charges of common assault on emergency workers at Warwick Crown Court.

Judge Andrew Lockhart QC said: "He is charged with two assaults on emergency workers, one of them while on bail.

"He must understand the sentence will be one of significant custody.

"I will be minded to pass deterrent sentences, and the sentence for the second matter is likely to be consecutive."

Oritsejafor, who was appearing via a video link from the prison, told the judge: "I didn't mean to spit in her face."

But the judge told him: "It is very likely you will be receiving a significant custodial sentence for these matters."

Prosecutor Mark Phillips said: "A male officer who believed he was being aggressive took him to the floor, and was assisted by a female colleague, PC Napier, to restrain him.

"As they're getting him up, he spits into the officer's face.

"That is spit and blood, because he had had a bleeding nose earlier, and it catches her straight in the eye."

Playing a CCTV recording of the incident, Mr Phillips added: "She is clearly upset, and she's very shaken indeed."

Oritsejafor was remanded in custody and will sentenced at a later date.

Juventus star, Paulo Dybala ‘tests positive for Coronavirus for fourth time in six weeks’

Paulo Dybala has reportedly still got Coronavirus, more than five weeks after he first tested positive.

The Juventus forward who was among the first Serie A players to contract Coronavirus alongside team-mates Daniele Rugani and Blaise Matuidi, has had a total of four tests in six weeks as a result of his initial diagnosis, with his most recent coming back positive.

Dybala had confirmed on March 21 that he and his girlfriend, Oriana Sabatini had contracted COVID-19 after his first positive test for the disease.

Though Spanish programme El Chiringuito stated Dybala has had four tests in the last six weeks, it is unclear if Sabatini has also been tested or if either of them are still displaying symptoms.

The couple however seem to be in great spirit. Dybala's Instagram story showed him working out in a home gym before doing a TikTok dance with his girlfriend, days after they welcomed dog Kaia to the family.

The Argentina international footballer had shared his experience with Coronavirus, which left him struggling to breathe. He said at that time;

"Luckily [we are] much better, these days we do not have any symptoms.

"I had stronger symptoms, I got tired very quickly, when I wanted to train, I was short of breath after five minutes. There we noticed that something was not right and through the tests the club did we were told that we were positive.

"From there we had more symptoms, such as cough, tired body and when we slept I felt very cold, but from the club they had told us that we were going to be fine so we had to be calm."

Serie A teams, including Juventus, are scheduled to return to training on Monday, May 4. Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte said;

"Players would be able to undertake training individually from 4 May, in groups from 18 May, and then we'll evaluate if there are the conditions to allow the season to be completed.

"We need to complete all the discussions to ensure that if we do reach that stage, we'll do so in the utmost safety and security.

"We are passionate about sport and don't want our athletes to get sick.

"I'm passionate for football. Like many Italians, I initially found it strange that the championship could be interrupted or suspended but I think that even the most ardent fan understands that there wasn't an alternative."

Family of Nasarawa's first case of Coronavirus hid her from getting tested - Governor Sule

Governor Abdullahi Sule has narrated how the family of Nasarawa's index case of Coronavirus was shielded from undergoing a test by her family.

The Governor who expressed disappointment with the act, said the incident occurred in Kokona Local Government Area of the state.

Governor Sule said;

“It is sad to announce that Nasarawa State has the first case from this lady who travelled from Kano to Kokona. We already evacuated the lady from Kokona to Lafia where we have better facilities to take care of her.

“We have also isolated the family, where she came from, so that we could conduct proper tests on them to ensure that none of them is infected. But the sad part of everything about the lady is when we discovered that there was somebody who could have been infected as she came from Kano to the state.

“We tried to go and conduct a test on this lady but the family hid her and prevented us from even conducting the test on the lady. That is the sad part.

“I want to use this opportunity to encourage our people, especially the traders who continue to travail to some of these high risk places, like Kano and Lagos and returning home, that they could be doing more harm to their own members of the family than even the state. This is because right now, for this lady, we don’t know if some members of her family who were trying to hide her away from being tested are actually infected."

Dr Anu allegedly freed after being arrested over botched surgery and death of former beauty queen; family cry out for justice

Dr Anu, the self-acclaimed plastic surgeon whose practices has led to an outcry in the last few weeks has allegedly been freed after being arrested.

The doctor was taken in for questioning at Panti Police Station following a botched surgery she conducted which reportedly led to the death of former beauty Queen, Onwuzuligbo Nneka Miriam.

A friend of the deceased who has been running campaigns on social media to ensure that justice is served, disclosed that the doctor who has been on the run since her facility in Lekki area of Lagos state was shut down, conducted a plastic surgery on the late beauty queen same year she graduated from medical school and started her internship.

@justice_for_queen_nneka wrote;

Hello everyone! Most of you remember when this news broke out last year? Well, this was when late Queen Nneka Onwuzuligbo died after an infection from a botched liposuction and fat transfer surgery at Med Contour.

One point of correction in this story: Late Nneka was never taken to Vedic hospital. She was taken straight from Med Contour to LUTH, in an ambulance. Dr Anu went on the run & eventually came out from hiding. Since then, she has committed more acts of malpractices as can be seen in recent news. Her facility was sealed again two weeks ago by the FCCPC but she went to NMA to play victim & complain of harassment.
Great Nigerians, we need to find out a lot of things: Is Anu a Board-Certified Plastic/Cosmetic Surgeon? Which organization in Nigeria certified her to practice as a Plastic/Cosmetic Surgeon? Is she registered with NAPRAS (National Association of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgeons) Nigeria? Does getting a Bachelors degree in medicine and surgery automatically give you the Licence to practice as a Plastic/ Cosmetic Surgery? NOTE: Dr Anu performed this procedure on late Nneka in 2018, the same year she graduated from medical school and started her internship.

Dr Anu has a lot of questions to answer, including why she forged a letter and presented to LUTH emergency unit on arrival, claiming that Nneka was referred to LUTH from General Hospital, Odan. If she were a qualified and certified plastic/cosmetic surgeon, why did she forge a letter claiming the deceased Nneka was coming from General Hospital and not Med Contour??? We have LUTH’s medical report to prove her lies.
Although these kinds of surgeries are elective, please let us fight to bring unqualified, unprofessional and unethical Practioners to book. We are not doing this for ourselves. Let us do this for our loved ones, for our children, for our future. You never know if someone you know/love may be secretly battling with insecurities about their bodies. And if we don’t stop unqualified and unprofessional people like Anu, she will keep preying on those insecurities. God bless you all!

The Instagram user who slammed the Nigeran Medical Association (NMA) over its notice in which it reportedly warned FCCPC officials against invading Dr Anu's property, also shared a petition against Dr Anu's botched surgeries which was described as "unethical".

It was further alleged that Dr Anu who was freed after being arrested by Nneka's family, has been taking appointments through social media and performing surgeries.

@justice_for_queen_nneka wrote in an another post;

Are the NMA( Nigerian Medical Association) and MDCN (Medical & Dental Council of Nigeria) backing Dr Anu of Med Contour’s malpractices? They definitely have some questions to answer! (Please swipe)

1. Are these two organizations aware that o2019, Anu FORGED a referral letter from GENERAL HOSPITAL, ODAN, which she presented to LUTH’s emergency unit, when the late Queen Nneka Onwuzuligbo was brought from MED CONTOUR in an ambulance after a botched liposuction surgery performed by Anu herself? And that the deceased Nneka was NEVER at General Hospital Odan like Anu presented?

2. Have the MDCN’s Investigating Panel asked to see the medical report on the cause of death of the late Nneka (whose family petitioned them in 2019 after her death)? If they have, did they see where Prof. Ugburo of LUTH wrote and signed that the deceased was referred from General Hospital Odan (according to the forged letter presented to them by Anu)? If the MDCN saw that report, did it not strike them as odd that the medical report stated that late Nneka was referred by General Hospital, Odan? And if they haven’t called for the medical report, why haven’t they done their due diligence yet, as an Investigating Panel, despite all the numerous allegations leveled against Dr Anu by many victims??? 3. MDCN’s Investigating Panel’s attached a response to the petition stated that they only attend to matters of “professional misconduct against their registered Practioners”. Can they please explain what they mean by “professional misconduct”, and how the numerous allegations against Anu are not of professional misconduct?

4. IS NMA aware that Dr Anu was arrested by the deceased Nneka’s family on July 5th, 2019 and taken to Panti police station, Yaba, Lagos?

5. Are the MDCN and NMA aware that, as at the time Anu was arrested, her facility where she operated on late Nneka, was already sealed by the Lagos State Health Facility Monitoring & Accreditation Agency? And that even though her facility was sealed, Anu was hiding out at AMETHYST HOSPITAL Lekki, taking appointments through social media, and performing surgeries?

That was how Anu got arrested on July 5th, 2019. She was lured through a false appointment. Are the NMA and MDCN aware of all these? If they are not, why have they not yet done their due diligence and investigation on this unscrupulous doctor who has so much blood on her hands?

6. Wouldn’t it be a case of professional misconduct that would cause Med Contour to be closed and sealed by the Lagos State Health Facility Monitoring & Accreditation Agency, last year?

7. Are the NMA and MDCN aware that late Queen Nneka Onwuzuligbo is someone’s daughter, and has a family, and the family and citizens of Nigeria want answers as to why Dr Anu is still allowed to practice as a medical practitioner despite all these allegations, with proofs against her.

8. Are they aware that Anu is playing victim, while she is actually the one who has made many women victims of her malpractices?

9. Are NMA and MDCN aware that Anu performed the liposuction surgery on late Queen Nneka in 2018, the same year that she(Anu) graduated from medical school, a procedure medical experts have said would require at least 7-10 of fellowships, specialist and board exams after medical school and internship?

The NMA and MDCN have a lot of questions to answer, and everyone who signed these letters, has to answer these questions. They have to answer to the Nigerian people, and the world, why they are supporting this doctor and why her medical license has not been revoked yet!

Stay tuned for more shocking revelations, and please keep tagging relevant authorities, organizations and social media influencers! Justice must prevail!

'It's not a matter of money, it's life or death'- FIFA medical chief tells English and German leagues to cancel the season like France and start again in August

FIFA's Chief Medic, Michael D'Hooghe, has warned against the dangers of the English and German leagues plan to restart football quickly amid the Coronavirus pandemic as Coronavirus lockdown restrictions are slowly being eased across Europe.

Michael D'Hooghe said football chiefs should see the Coronavirus crisis as a 'life and death' situation and postpone football till August as players spitting on the pitch could unleash deadly second wave of the virus.

His warning comes after France joined Holland and Belgium to cancel the remainder of the 2019-20 football season with no football until August but Germany's Bundesliga has revealed plans subject to approval from the federal government and state health authorities, to get going the season going on May 9. The Bundesliga is not alone in it's efforts to restart football as the Premier League is working towards trying to conclude the 2019-20 season in June and July.

D'Hooghe expressed concern that players on a football field would not be able to adhere to these rules fearing changing jerseys, showering together and spitting on the ground could spread the virus.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, D'Hooghe said: 'We are all subject to decisions at national level from the public authorities. It is very simple. Football suddenly becomes not the most important thing in life.

'I will be happy if we can start, in a convenient way, the next championship and have nothing before the start of next season.

'If they could start the season 2020-21 end of August or beginning of September I would be happy. Then they could eventually avoid a second attack from the virus, which is not impossible.

'Everyone has to be very careful for the moment. I have heard in many countries they are thinking about playing football again, with or without the public.

'In my long career I have seen many situations where there has been a balance between economic and health. Mostly the economics won, whether that was about jetlag or football at altitude or in extreme conditions such as pollution situations.

'If there is one circumstance where medical arguments should win against economical arguments, it is now. It is not a matter of money, it is a matter of life and death. It is very simple.'

'' Is this a deliberate attempt at debilitating Northern population?" MURIC tackles NCDC over lack of COVID-19 testing centers in Kano

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has expressed worries over the spike in the number of mysterious deaths in Kano state.

In the statement released and signed by its director, Prof Ishaq Akintola, MURIC wondered why Kano state which is highly populated, lacks COVID-19 testing center.

The Muslim body in its statement asked if this a ''deliberate attempt at debilitating Northern population with its attendant impact on Muslim majority population in the country''.

“Too many people are dying in Kano these days. It is too unusual. We suspect COVID-19. We need help in Kano very urgently. This is an S.O.S. The Federal Government must act with dispatch. We cannot afford to play the waiting game in this matter. We may not overwhelm COVID-19 even if we succeed in containing it in the rest of the country. This is because Kano is strategically positioned. The virus can easily spread to the North West, North East and then down South.

“Records have shown that the advent of the virus in some Northern states is not unconnected with the ancient city of Kano. The index cases in Adamawa, Plateau, and Jigawa are from Kano. Even two of the index cases in Kaduna are from Kano. That is an indication that the virus is very active in Kano State. Kano already has 77 cases of Corona virus at the last count but even that figure is debatable.

“More disturbing is the rumour that the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in the state has locked up its offices and its officials are not responding to distress calls. The only testing centre in Kano which is situated at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital has also been allegedly locked up. So where did NCDC get its figure on Kano? Something is fishy here. We are surprised that testing centres are almost nonexistent in the North. Is this a deliberate attempt at debilitating Northern population with its attendant impact on Muslim majority population in the country?

“We therefore demand an inquiry into circumstances surrounding the alleged closure of NCDC office in Kano State as well as the paucity of testing centres in the whole North.'' the statement read

The Islamic body also called on all Muslims to respect the order of the Federal government banning all religious gatherings until the pandemic has been defeated.

“We advise Kano citizens in particular and the rest of Nigerians in general to take half a tea-spoonfull of habat as-sauda (black seed) with honey every morning to boost their immunity. Warm water should be added thereafter. During his lifetime, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) recommended habat as-sauda as remedy for all diseases. Some COVID-19 patients have also testified to the effectiveness of habat as-sauda.

Apart from this, we must be frank with ourselves. We should stop disobeying health officials and the authorities. FG advised against crowding. The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) also warned us to stop holding congregational prayers. We in MURIC also warned that Nigerian Muslims should not try to be more Muslim than Muhammad (peace be upon him). But some of us did not listen. We insisted on attending Jumu’ah prayers. We must go back and read Qur’an 4:59 and pay attention to what the Qur’an says on obedience to constituted authorities. Where are those scholars who misled you now? Where are they?

“Nigerian Muslims are currently enjoying a majority status in the area of demography. We must avoid anything capable of decimating our population. We urge Kano citizens to strictly obey rules set by health officials, particularly social distancing, washing hands regularly with soap, using sanitizers and staying at home. You must break the cycle of this killer virus. Above all, the government must be vicious to be triumphant. Violators of lockdown rules must be dealt with according to the law while the lockdown on Kano must not be lifted until the rate of death slows down to a reasonable level.”

Donald Trump suggests Kim Jong Un is alive but won't reveal the truth about the North Korean dictator's health

US president, Donald Trump has suggested that Kim Jong Un is alive but refused to reveal the truth about the North Korean dictator's health.

During a press conference at the White House on Monday, Trump was asked about Kim's well-being due to conflicting reports on Kim's status that he has died, while reports out of South Korea say he is alive.

'I can’t tell you exactly. Yes, I do have a very good idea,' Trump responded when asked about it. 'But I can't talk about it. I just wish him well. I’ve had a very good relationship with Kim Jong-un,' Trump said.

Trump went on to defend his own policy with North Korea saying: 'If I weren't president, you would have been in war with Korea.

'You would have been in war with North Korea if I wasn't president. That I can tell you. He expected that. That I can tell you. I hope he's fine. I do know how he's doing relatively speaking. We will see you'll probably be hearing in the not too distant future,' Trump teased.

Commenting on Kim's message to workers in the country published in North Korean state-media Sunday, Trump said. 'He didn’t say anything last Saturday. Nobody knows where he is so he obviously couldn’t have said it,' Trump added.

'This is breaking news, that Kim Jong-un made a statement on Saturday – I don’t think so,' Trump said.

There have been rumors and conflicting reports over Kim's health since he failed to attend an event that honored his Kim's grandfather, Kim Il Sung on April 15, and he has not been seen in public since.

Several report said that he underwent a life-saving heart surgery, which either wasn't done rapidly enough, or it was botched completely by the surgeon, after he clutched his chest in early April and fell down while visiting the countryside.

I was too young and didn’t understand the concept of marriage- Elikem Kumordzie speaks on his failed marriage to Pokello Nare

I was too young and didn?t understand the concept of marriage- Elikem Kumordzie speaks on his failed marriage to Pokello Nare?
Ghanaian actor and fashion designer, Elikem Kumordzie, has once again spoken about his failed marriage to Zimbabwean socialite, Pokello Nare.

The ex reality stars, who met during season 8 of Big Brother Africa (The Chase) in 2013 got married in September 2015. But less than two years after they tied the knot, their marriage hit the rocks.

Speaking during a recent Instagram live session with fellow fashion designer and Radio host, KOD, Elikem explained that age was also a factor in his failed marriage.

When asked by KOD, If there are things he could have done to save his marriage if he had the opportuning to do it again, he said: 'There was an interview Pokello did some time ago and she said, Elikem was not ready for marriage.

I got married at 26 – 27, maybe she was right. Pokello is three -years older and at the time we got married, I think she was 29 -30.

Maybe she was seeing something at that time, I couldn't see. But now that I have turned 31, am seeing a lot of things I didn't see at 27.
