Social Media Influencer faces up to 20-Years in Prison after trying to steal domain name at Gunpoint

26-year-old Rossi Lorathio Adams II, the founder of media company, State Snaps. is facing up to two decades in prison for hiring an intruder to break into a house to force the transfer of an internet domain at gunpoint.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Northern District of Iowa, Adams, who once had “over a million followers on his social media sites, which mostly contained images and videos of young adults engaged in crude behavior, drunkenness and nudity,” had used the slogan “Do it for state” when posting videos and images. Adams tried to purchase the domain name doitforstate.com from a Cedar Rapids resident who wasn’t interested in parting with the site name.

“Between 2015 and 2017, Adams repeatedly tried to obtain ‘doitforstate.com,’ but the owner of the domain would not sell it,” court documents stated. “Adams also threatened one of the domain owner’s friends with gun emojis after the friend used the domain to promote concerts.”

In June of 2017, Adams enlisted the help of his cousin, Sherman Hopkins Jr. to force the transfer. Hopkins drove to the house, grabbed the victim by the arm, and showed him a demand letter containing instructions on transferring the domain, placing a gun against the victim’s head.

“Fearing for his life, the victim quickly turned to move the gun away from his head. The victim then managed to gain control of the gun,” court records show. The victim then shot Hopkins multiple times before calling authorities.

Hopkins was sentenced to 20 years in prison last year.

Adams who has since been arrested is facing a maximum sentence of 20 years, $250,000 fine and three years of probation.

Former White House photographer, Pete Souza has now given the backstory to the tan suit and how the president told his staff "Don't tell me what to wear" when they tried to discourage him from wearing the suit.

Pete wrote:

At 7:30AM, apparently while he was on the treadmill in the private residence, President Obama sent a message to Deputy Press Secretary Josh Earnest via his secure Blackberry warning him that he planned to wear a tan suit to the Oval Office that day.[1]?

Earnest replied five minutes later at 7:35AM: “Talked to {White House Press Secretary Jay} Carney and we both agree this will be a big mistake. You are scheduled to make an appearance in the briefing room. Please ask XXXXXXXX to prepare a gray suit instead.”[2]?

I’m Nigerian by birth - Atiku replies APC

Former Vice President and PDP Presidential candidate in the February 23rd presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, has denied claims made by the APC that he is not a citizen of Nigeria.

In a petition filed at the presidetial election tribunal, the APC had alleged that Atiku is not a Nigerian by birth. In their petition, the APC stated that Atiku was born in Cameroon and so is a Cameroonian by birth and as such, is not eligible to run for president.

Responding to APC's claim, Atiku in statement himself and his party jointly filed before the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal, denied the claim. The former Vice President said he was born on November 25, 1946, in Jada, Adamawa State, therefore he was a Nigerian.

He said while his father, Garba Atiku Abdulkadir, hailed from Wumo in the present-day Sokoto State, his mother, Aisha Kande, hailed from Dutse, now Jigawa State. The response in part reads

“Contrary to the allegations contained in paragraphs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 of the 3rd respondent’s (APC’s) reply, the petitioners state that the 1st petitioner (Atiku) is a citizen of Nigeria by birth and thus qualified to vote and be voted for and returned in the election to the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, held on Saturday February 23, 2019 going by the relevant provisions of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

“The 1st petitioner was born on November 25, 1946, in Jada, Adamawa State, by Nigerian parents and he is, therefore, a citizen of Nigeria by birth. The 1st petitioner’s father, Garba Atiku Abdulkadir, was a Nigerian by birth who hailed from Wumo in the present-day Sokoto State, while the mother, Aisha Kande, was also a Nigerian who hailed from Dutse in the present-day Jigawa State.

“The parents of the 1st Petitioner are both Fulani, a community/tribe indigenous to Nigeria.

“The birth of the 1st petitioner in Jada, in the present-day Adamawa State of Nigeria, was occasioned by the movement of his paternal grandfather called Atiku, who was an itinerant trader, from Wumo in the present-day Sokoto State to Jada in company with his friend, Ardo Usman. That in Jada, Atiku, the grandfather of the 1st petitioner, gave birth to Garba who in tum gave birth to the 1st petitioner and named him after his father, Atiku.

“The 1st petitioner’s mother, Aisha Kande, was the grand-daughter of Inuwa Dutse who came to Jada as an itinerant trader too from Dutse in the present-day Jigawa State. All averments concerning Germany, British Cameroons, League of Nations and Plebiscite are false and misleading in relation to the 1st petitioner and therefore completely irrelevant more so that the 1st petitioner is a Nigerian by birth within the contemplation of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended).

“The averments in the aforesaid paragraphs are indeed fabricated, contrived, made in bad faith and designed to embarrass the 1st petitioner'' he said

Man pretending to be an officer tried to pull over a real detective and got arrested

When a South Florida undercover detective almost got pulled over last week, it came as a surprise that the officer attempting to conduct the traffic stop wasn't even a real one.

Despite having red and blue lights on the grill of his 2007 white Chevrolet Trailblazer, a law enforcement light bar on top of the vehicle and and a realistic-looking airsoft pistol under the front passenger seat, Matthew Joseph Erris, 26, of Dade City, was just pretending to be deputy, according to a press release from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

What Erris didn't know was that the driver of the car he tried to pull over was a real undercover detective.

The detective called 911 while keeping Erris' "patrol car" in sight, the release said. A short time later, Erris was pulled over by a real deputy and had his vehicle searched, where the fake gun and lights were found.

Erris was subsequently arrested for allegedly impersonating a law enforcement officer.

MJ VS Beyonce trends as Nigerians argue about who is a better performer between Michael Jackson and Beyonce (screenshots)

A heated debate has ensued on Twitter regarding who is a better performer between Michael Jackson and Beyonce.

No doubt, Michael Jackson and Beyonce are two musicians who have made great impact with their talent, but Twitter users believe they are not on the same level and have resorted to comparing MJ vs Beyonce.

This comparison comes after the release of Beyonce's Homecoming documentary which showed the efforts Bey put into making her Coachella performance exceptional. She had just given birth to twins via an emergency C-Section after suffering pre-eclampsia during pregnancy. Yet, she refused to stay home to recuperate and immediately went into beast mode, exercising and dieting just to get back into shape.

Following the release of the documentary, Some Twitter users began to refer to her as the greatest of all time and no one, not even Michael Jackson, can compare. But some tweeps felt there was no basis for the comparison as both artists were from different eras. Some said Michael was able to make so much impact globally, even without the internet, whereas the internet helped give Beyonce reach.

Some compared them based on their stage performances and the impact they had on the crowd during concerts. They pointed out that people fainted when MJ performed but Bey hasn't been able to achieve that.

So far, web users have been unable to come to an agreement as diehard Beyonce fans insist she's the best of all time, whereas, others say she's good but can't compare with the late MJ.

See some tweets below.
